THE COMPANY
In 2018, Alon founded Paper Plane Productions for the purpose of producing and financing original international drama series around the world. The first show Paper Plane co- developed and produced was TEHRAN (Apple TV+), which then led to a first-look deal with Apple TV+. Tehran, produced with the Israeli Public Broadcaster, launched on Apple as the platform’s first non-English language series and won the International Emmy for Best Drama Series in 2021. Season two, featuring Glenn Close, premiered in May 2022, and season three, featuring Hugh Laurie, is expected to premiere in the winter of 2025. Season four is currently in development.
The company’s second international series is the Dutch dramedy BESTSELLER BOY, which came out of Paper Plane’s first-look deal with CBS Studios International in 2018 and aired in the fall of 2022 on the NPO, the Dutch public broadcaster.
The third international drama Paper Plane co-produced is THE VANISHING TRIANGLE, an Irish crime-noir series with Virgin Ireland and Sundance / AMC, which premiered in the US in October 2023. The Vanishing Triangle is one of the top rated shows on Sundance for 2023 and season two is currently in development and expected to go into production in 2025.
Paper Plane is currently collaborating with producers, writers and broadcasters in nine countries outside the US – Israel, Germany, Italy, Holland, Ireland, India, Canada, Australia and New Zealand – to help co-finance and develop local shows (both IP adaptations and originals) in those territories for the global market.
In the US, Paper Plane focuses on adapting international IP, both scripted formats and original developments, into the US market. The company develops drama series for broadcast, cable and streaming with a focus on co-financing through deals with US outlets. Most notable is YOUR HONOR with Bryan Cranston, produced for Showtime. The show became the most-watched debut season on Showtime upon airing in December 2020. Season two aired in January 2023. In May 2024, the first two seasons premiered on Netflix and remained in the top #10 for eight weeks, reaching the number one spot. Season three is currently in development.
